What To Do about
the Worry Wart Within
Most of us waste time and
energy worrying when it would be better to drop the
subject—whatever that subject is—or to do what we
can do to deal with it and then move on. Why don’t
we? What stops us?
This month’s Rational Living meetup aims to help you
remove those unsightly worry warts and then learn
what to think, feel, and do instead.
There’s no time like the present to learn some
additional skills for effective self-management. In
this meetup, we discuss and teach the
problem-solving method called REBT, Rational Emotive
Behavior Therapy, which our organizer, Emmett
Velten, has practiced and published about for 45
years as a psychotherapy and self-help system.
REBT says that how we think and what we believe—our
attitudes—are crucial to how we feel and how we
act—including unproductive worries, anxieties, and
fears—and it capitalizes on that fact.
If you have some unproductive worries you’d like to
tackle, then come on down! You might get some ideas
that work for you, just as they work for us.
In addition to the opportunity to learn valuable new
skills, our Rational Living monthly seminar and
discussion group puts you in contact with
like-minded people who want to improve their lives
through rational thinking.
